A few lessons that I’m sure we’ve all heard, but certainly apply to me this year:
1. That “almost” doesn’t count – but it makes you wiser and more determined to go after what you really want.
2. Discover your passion, and find a way to use it.
Now regarding #2, I have forever seen the Oprah type shows ramble on about this, all the wonderful success stories they highlight…but I never really felt that it applied to me. I have a job I love, a family I love even more, a great home, great community and I am a genuinely happy person. I have very little, actually nothing, to complain about. So why the heck to do I need a passion?
It has finally dawned on me, I do.
Not need one, I have one.
It is not something I looked for, or tried to develop…but this entire Disney World Moms process forced me to do a lot of reflecting on my connection with and to Disney. I acknowledged the sincere joy I get from talking about it, and how grateful I feel when others look to me for advice because I WANT them to have a great experience.
But how can I use it?
The Walt Disney World Moms Panel was the perfect vehicle to indulge my passion, and I can do it all without having to sacrifice the things that are most important to me.
But… as you learned in the prior entry I didn’t quite make the cut. I followed along on the Adventures of the Mom’s Panel through various web sites and blogs, green with envy but very proud of Disney for making great choices for their 2008 panel. The current 12 panelists are wonderful and informative and have been so open and gracious about sharing their experiences with us interested followers.
So that is where #1 comes in. I have to try again.
In September 2008 I got that chance. Stay tuned for the story.
