Can you guess what this means in our house? It's an all important sequence, that I've committed to memory.

This is the preferred sequence that the blankets are to be layered on Maya's bed.

Big deal, not really...and it's not to the point where if they happen to be placed out of order by an uninformed *ahem* Daddy that the bed must be stripped and re-made before her beautiful little head rests....But as her mother that has a sincere appreciation for the little OCD tendencies that we seem to share, this is one "quirk" that I really don't mind indulging. Why? She is lenient with us, she understands that sometimes we forget to layer them properly...and she won't complain, she won't cry, she won't refuse to sleep because of it, she'll simply politely request that they are put back in the preferred sequence during the next changing.
How simple is that? How can I NOT oblige?
Her other bed "quirk" that I always indulge is Dale, Bunny, Teddy and Lizard. In that order, facing outward along the inside of her right arm. A little OCD, okay, call it that if you want...but I call it routine and the easiest and quickest way to send Miss Maya into sweet slumber. When I indulge this sequence she'll be asleep before I hit the bottom of the stairs.

One of the things that I just LOVE about Maya is that she is particular and likes order...but can let loose and let things go when she wants or needs to. Should she have a slumber party in her sisters room, or we head to the lake or on vacation....Dale, Bunny, Teddy & Lizard are left behind, the blankets can be any color or order available. She would never demand it to be different, or expect us to work miracles. She makes it so easy to indulge her little ritualistic quirks, and being more on the quirky side than not myself...I'm always more than happy to.
